Position Overview:

This position requires cultural sensitivity, patience when working with students of different cultures, and student-centered approach and a high standard of accuracy. The nature of the work is driven by deadlines, interruptions and shifting priorities; it is imperative that this position can work well in a team-based, environment and with minimal direct supervision.

Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, this position performs tasks and provides guidance related to the planning, organizing and supervising of the delivery of extra-curricular programs at UCQ. Responsible for coordinating student clubs and events within UCQ that contribute to the overall student experience and success of students.

This position has the dual responsibilities of coordinating student life activities at UCQ and supporting the recruitment of students to UCQ through presentations and visits to schools and at various education and career fairs. This may also mean meeting with parents & feeder institutions, planning and participating in various student life activities.

The Recruitment and Student Life Assistant must stay current and up-to-date on regulations of the University of Calgary related to the admission of students and on the requirements of nursing programs. The ability to relate well to and work with students to plan events and activities for students is necessary. Flexibility and a strong commitment to student success are essential, as is an ability to communicate in Arabic and English.
