IT Technician

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults. Troubleshooting includes network (router, switch and hubs), desktops and laptops, telephones and servers.
- Installs, configures and maintains management approved software on computers and configures the network to allow proper user access.
- Installs and configures network printers.
- Repairs and maintains desktop and laptop hardware.
- Installs, configures, and maintains antivirus software on computer systems.
- Configures Microsoft Outlook and manages personal folders in all versions of Outlook.
- Facilitates requirement gathering, determination of recommended solutions, and implementing solutions to improve the performance, security, and defense of the systems and networks.
- Ensures that Group Policies are maintained up-to-date.
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all computer equipment.
- Facilitates the assistance and training of users for the Microsoft operating system and Office applications plus related equipment.
- Contacting vendors for purchasing IT items.
- Working within a TCP/IP network environment, including DHCP, DNS and Ethernet.
- Maintaining records of software licenses.
- Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades.
- Troubleshooting the projector display problems in the classrooms.
- Network performance optimization.
- Network infrastructure and security (routers, firewalls).
