Reporting To: Leather Goods Buying and Merchandising Manager


 Job Summary:


Being an Assistant Buyer at Salam Stores is unlike any other experience, it’s a Salam Experience. The Assistant Buyer works in the Leather Goods category supporting activity in the women’s category of shoes, bags and small leather goods. This person will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the overall regional buying strategy across all buying lines, in 3 countries while ensuring that all lines are performing up to the required standard.


 


Main Responsibilities:



Strategic/Planning


  • Following a buying strategy that provides a wide product range and mix, to achieve variety and customer satisfaction, adhering to the general strategies and standards of Salam Stores

  • Implementing business development of Salam Group by offering the needed product variety
    Working with the Buying Manager to design a buying strategy for the department


Technical


  • Assisting in choosing and buying merchandise that follows the emerging market trends and client demands and needs

  • Ensuring coordination and communication with other buyers within the Buying Department, in conjunction with the Buying Manager

  • Providing directions for retail pricing of Leather goods’ products

  • Receiving constant feedback from the Regional Stores Operations Manager for client’s feedback to ensure that clients’ needs are met

  • Working closely with the Visual Merchandising to make sure the merchandise is displayed correctly across all venues meeting the brand suppliers brand requirements if any


External Relations


  • Attending local or international events that showcase products within the scope of the assigned buying division


Interdepartmental


  • Ensuring coordination and communication with Managers within the Retail Department to achieve coherence and avoid redundancy

  • Working with Managers to coordinate the buying of products within the Leather goods’ Department and the brands assigned to the Manager to avoid overlap

  • Working with the Logistics Department to follow up on the buying deal once it is initiated

  • Maintaining good relations with global suppliers, brand representatives, stores, and companies that provide products within the scope of the assigned buying division


General


  • Achieving excellence and cost optimization across the Retail Department’s Buying activities

  • Ensuring proper implementation of business processes and overall client satisfaction through the products mix and variety

  • Providing regular and seasonal reports to the Buying Manager to enable coherent and consistent decision making and strategic overview of the entire Buying Department

  • Undertaking other related duties assigned by the Buying Manager
