GROUP OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER

This role is responsible for the drafting and implementation of all Occupational Health and Safety (OHAS) policies and procedures across all operating areas within the Division. In addition, responsible for carrying out inspections and/or investigations for the purpose of regulating, controlling and ensuring compliance with the requirements of Workplace Safety and Health Act, the regulations pursuant to the Act and related legislation. The work is performed within established standards and clearly defined procedures. Individually, this role will be responsible in achieving the medium to long term objectives of the Division.
Key Responsibilities:
Identifies, gathers and defines the internal customers OHAS requirements
 Interacts with all Group employees to share their feedback of the health and safety within division’s properties
 Interacts with State Civil defence authority to confirm the level of safety
 Act as the single point of contact ensuring ultimate internal customer satisfaction and resolves conflicting in views of any OHAS matters
 Responsible to ensure OHAS projects are completed in time with the necessary quality within the agreed budgetary cost constraints
 Manages all OHAS aspect of the external customers in terms of understanding their needs (storage and transporting hazards materials) and providing solutions (ICT, Monoprix, Digitek, Medical and other divisions)
 Handles all OHAS related customer complaints (when required, follow the escalation process for rectification and decision making)
 Liaises with:
o Local Municipality and Government Regulatory Boards
o Contracting companies
o Service providers
