Role Objective:
• The Cost Control – Quantity Surveyor shall be responsible to provide planning and cost controlling support to the Head of Projects Planning & Control and other Engineering team members for all projects including claims assessment.
Key Accountabilities
• Work with the Head of Projects planning and Control to review and monitor budgets and cost plans across projects.
• Able to demonstrate and justify cost management concepts concisely and accurately with strong presentation skills.
• Collaborate with department heads to strategize ways to minimize the expenses including Value Management.
• Assist in performing commercial review of Tenders (Contractor’s quotations) for the preparation of contract agreements.
• Assist in managing project activity scheduling and monitoring.
• Perform project costing related reporting to the team and management’s review on a monthly basis to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget.
• Ensure effective project tracking implementation and utilize productive reports from the creation of WBS with the use of project management system to monitor the status of the project.
• Attend project meetings and discussions with the PMT, Consultant and Contractors.
• Provide cost control and planning advice to the internal PMT team as and when required.
• Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required.
• Evaluate and verify Contractor’s documents such as VO’s, EoT Claims, and Prolongation Cost etc. Prepare the comparison sheet (Client vs. Contractor), agreed quantity will be the basis of approved price to the Contractor.
• Analyze Contractor’s performance, labor, materials, productivity rates, preliminaries, program etc.
• Follow up Contractor to make sure quotations are received on time. Respond to contractor queries. Ensure conformity of the price and materials to the specification.
• Keep a full back up of drawings, sketches, specifications, and data is used in quantity take-off.
• Carry out and perform other related duties as specified and when required and assigned by the Line Manager to improve or enhance the efficiency of department’s work and performance.
