The portfolio company CFO will be both strategic and operational. Unlike a Controller, whose role is to accurately report financial results, a portfolio company CFO is strategic, growth-oriented and looks at the business "through the windshield, rather than the rearview mirror". The CFO will need to have business/operational finance experience, which is often the most critical priority for a portfolio CFO role, given the need to provide decision support across a range of operational and strategic initiatives. The role will be to manage the consolidation of financials of the portfolio companies, produce monthly and quarterly management accounts and reports.
