Heavy Equipment Engineer

a) Supervises & directs the activities of assigned personnel. Performs supervisory functions at the unit level as established by management.
b) Reviews selected job orders in consultation with Maintenance Planning and Operations to establish priorities/manpower requirements. Reviews and assists operating personnel in resolving day to day maintenance/repair problems encountered, especially during breakdowns. Recommends solution and remedies to problems related to operation & maintenance of Heavy Equipment in order to improve performance and reliability of the refinery.
c) Controls Heavy Equipment maintenance jobs such as mechanical / electrical systems repair works on company owned and contractors vehicles or cranes to ensure that all lifting equipment and appliances are inspected and certified by approved authority.
d) Directs & supervises operation of Heavy Equipment viz. cranes, bulldozers, trailers, lifting platforms etc. Reviews work assignments with Maintenance Planning division for rigging, lifting, mobilizing and transportation of refinery equipment for maintenance work. Also, carries out inspection of heavy equipment to ensure their availability. Controls administration of contracts for supply and maintenance of Heavy Equipment, Fire Equipment and Transport Vehicles.
e) Directs and supervises repair and maintenance work of Bridge Cranes in Coker units and ensures proper and continuous running by preparing and ordering all necessary associated spare parts.
f) Ensures availability of spare parts for the shops equipment and orders materials and spares as per engineering standards and specifications.
g) Coordinates and follows up work carried out through outside workshops / contractors to ensure proper and safe workmanship.
h) Plans and supervises personally all critical and important jobs of equipment handling, checks the site preparation, loading charts and calculations to ensure safe hoisting operations.
i) Remains on call and attends to emergency work after office hours and holidays.
j) Assumes full responsibility for the role as envisaged by safety health and environment management system (SHEMS) as per the attachment.
