The Content Editor is responsible for working on the linguistic content of a variety of documents, business, technical, legal and scientific written materials including promotional materials, letters, reports. articles, books etc. The role includes content development, reading documents. writing and editing copies, preparing summaries, consulting clients and developing contacts and using the necessary computer programs once required. He/she is also responsible for helping in translating content between different languages (mainly Arabic and English) as well as proofreading.
Key Result Areas:
• Read through original material and rewrite it in the target language, ensuring the grammaticality, acceptability, appropriateness and consistency of the linguistic content of the different marketing and promotional materials produced by QNL's Communications Department
• Help in translating the various documents/content used in the daily communication within and outside QNL.
• Revise, proofread and edit final translated documents to ensure high quality content.
• Help in interpretation during meetings and events, as required.
• Use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books as part of his/her daily work to ensure that best quality language is used to communicate the content in question.
• Use appropriate software for presentation and delivery.
• Research legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the most appropriate word/phrase for use in the appropriate context.
• Liaise with different parties to discuss any unclear points and consulting with experts in specialist areas.
• Use any appropriate channels as research tools throughout his/her work.
• Prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Work closely with QF communications as required.
• Retain and develop specialist knowledge on library-specific terms and language.
• Provide support to the QNI. Director's Office with summary/written translation of letters, memos, content, manuscripts, admin and financial documents as required.
• Texts may include scientific, technical, commercial, literary, legal and educational documents
• Read documents and write and edit copies as required
• Work with library visitors as required.
• Support various QNI departments as required subject to managerial approval.
• Ensure that the linguistic content for QNL's website and social media are grammatical appropriate and fine-tuned to the appropriate audience.
• Implement QF policies and procedures in the area of copy writing guidelines.
• Coordinate administrative and language-related activities.
• Familiarize, understand and implement QF health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, legal regulations and objectives applicable to areas of responsibility. Ensures coordination with HSE department in implementing. monitoring and reviewing of HSE performance to ensure work under his/her control is performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally sound manner.
